We got picked up at 5am in a shuttle and taken to a meeting point where a lot of other people were eating breakfast and awaiting to get in the hot air balloons. We got driven to a field where our balloon was getting ready to go up - freezing we watch as the balloon team get air and fire in the balloon and then 16 of us climbed into the basket. We flew for about an hour - over looking Cappadocia and the other balloons in the sky - about 50 flying around us. We enjoyed a complimentary glass of champagne at the end with a certificate printed with our names on them. We were over 2.1km high! Wow this is one of the most exciting experiences I have ever had :)
We had a wee sleep once we got back at 7:30ish and then we went out for lunch at 'Cafe Safak' where I got some muesli with yoghurt and honey and Ben got a chicken plate. Both were good and relatively cheap.
We hired 2 scooters just outside our hotel for €15 each for 3 hours. We drove around town and went to 'Panasonic points' which give you a great view of the city. We drove to the caves and saw how people use to live in them not so long ago. Because we were kind of off-roading, the track wasn't that secure and I fell off my scooter.... haha. After that I lost my confidence a bit so I wasn't keeping up with Ben as much. It was a fun experience though and another great way to explore the city.
We tried to book an overnight bus to Istanbul but they are all full, so we are catching a bus to Ankara (half way to Istanbul) and then we will sort getting another bus once we arrive there. This was the cheapest option (€15 to Ankara then probably another €15 to Istanbul as opposed to €125 for a flight).
