Day 41 - Mykonos to Syros

We say goodbye to our good friends who are flying back to London.... Lisa, Tim, Steph, Mike and David :(
It's now just Genelle, Melody, Nicky, Ben and I traveling to Turkey together.

To kill a few hours we go to our eating spot 'Gourmeat' again... Ben got ripped off - he asked for a Gyros €2.5 and instead they brought him out another meat plate for €6.50. Ben thought they did it out of goodwill for all of the service we have given them, we found out when the bill came that this was not the case. We are SO over the shit hospitality of this place. You travel to Greece for the beautiful beaches but don't expect too much out of the service as you'll be disappointed.

The owners of our Villa drop us at the port to catch the ferry to Syros.
We wanted to go straight to Kos - but we have to go via Syros and the next ferry to Kos is at 11:10pm Monday night (Sunday today).

The ship we catch is like a cruise ship - very luxurious inside with shops, cafes, ATMs, movie rooms etc. so we just chilled out for over an hour and then arrived in Syros.

Woohoo our first winging a hotel experience and it turned out to be great and cheaper than booking online. Ben and I paid €45 in total for a double room in 'Hotel Palladion'. Whereas the girls booked it online and paid an extra €10 than what the receptionist was going to give it to them for. The room is amazing too and so clean.
Only 50 meter walk from the port - I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Syros.

The concierge was helpful and told us where a swimming spot was, only a 5 minute walk away. We walked around enjoying the peacefulness of the island and we are the only tourists we have seen so far.

The swimming spot we came across is absolute bliss. The water is the perfect temperature and the water - you will just never get sick of the turquoise, clear water.

We came across a salad bar called 'Plaza Cafe and Croissant' So we had to get one and we were so impressed with how generous they were with the servings. With a salad with everything in it your looking to pay €7.
Syros - we feel like we have come across a hidden gem.
