Day 29 - Rome

Arrived in Rome at 9am, the rest of the guys are staying in a hostel called Hostel Lodi, but because I am feeling under the weather, Ben and I are going to stay in a hotel - so I booked one through Creative Holidays, called Hotel Priscilla, the room is nice with a big queen sized bed and a large bathroom, we have to pay €5 for wifi and we didn't get any reception in our room! But all I can say is thank god for the air conditioning. The receptionist was very friendly and knowledgable about the city.

It's about 36 degrees today, together with a cold I feel like shit!

We walked around the city and we all got a drink and some food. They have coke cans in 330ml which are really cool because everything tastes better in a can! Ben got a pizza and said it was delicious, if you want the best pizza in the world - go to Italy.

Because I was so hot and sick, Ben used his t-shirt to wrap around my head to cool me down.
We got on a sightseeing tour bus and went around the city, we went inside the Vatican City, this is up there on the most amazing monuments I have seen on this trip. I never expected it to be so big and the attention to detail on the inside is just out of this world! How were they able to reach the heights to paint underneath the dome and especially because it was built over 500 years ago - I am just gob smacked!

We hoped back on the bus and Chrysta brought an umbrella to shade her from the sun as she had no sunnies, only €3 from a street seller.

Everyone was falling asleep on the bus, from the long journey and the intensity of the sun, so we walked back to the hostel getting some food supplies for a cheese platter and we chilled out in the sun, enjoying the afternoon.

Ben and I taxied to the hotel and once our heads hit the pillow - we were asleep at 6pm!

Travelers Tip:
To get into the Vatican you MUST wear a t-shirt ( your shoulders must be covered) and shorts/ skirt that goes past your knees otherwise you won't be allowed inside.
