Day 31 Rome to Greece (Santorini)

Up early to get a taxi at 3:30am which the receptionist at the hotel so kindly booked for us. We had to pay €2 each per night as a city tax. We have enjoyed our stay at Hotel Priscilla, talking to our friends staying in the hostel - they didn't have the best sleep as its so hot in the rooms and the fans do stuff all! So we are very stoked and I'm coming away feeling a bit better and recovering well from my throat infection.

We got to the airport at 3:50am, I actually had to wind down my window in the taxi as the driver was going so fast - he was driving like a nutter at 150km, I felt like I was going to be sick!

It took us just over an hour to get through customs and boarding time was delayed. We flew with Blue Panorama, so we could sit wherever we wanted to which means first in first serve so we had to be at the front of the line so us 7 could sit together. We didn't have time to get breakfast though so we were all starving :(

We got a taxi to our hostel €30 per car - took 20 mins to get to our hostel 'Youth Hostel Oia' apparently this is the spot to stay in Santorini when you come here.

We went for a walk down to the water, I am actually surprised there are just rocks and no sandy beaches - but the beautiful turquoise water is just so indulgent to swim in, you feel so free in the water!

Then we went to a pool and all you had to do was pay for drinks and you got free use of the pool, it looks out over the mediterranean - pic attached.

I had heard a lot about Gyro before we came, they are pita bread with chicken, onions, tomatoes, sauce and chips inside - only €3 and they are so delicious. Ben had 3 today.

We chilled out at our hostel and had a few coronas.

We walked to capture a pic of the sunset. This is world-wide famous, there were so many people here to watch the sunset. Then once the sun went down everyone clapped - it was kinda weird, but I clapped along with everyone too :). The sunset was absolutely stunning.

Tomorrow we will get a pic of the famous blue roof white house shot! This is one pic I will have to put on a canvas when I get home.

We have found things to be relatively cheap here - for a bottle of water, and 3x pieces of fruit was €1.80.

There are heaps of cute shops here with a lot of touristy souvenirs. Santorini is the first place I would actually want to buy lots of stuff as all of the ornaments and magnets etc resemble Santorini so well as this is one place I will want to remember forever!

Santorini is the most beautiful place we have visited so far.... We just feel so relaxed and you are in constant view of white / blue houses with the mediteranean sea around you - it just doesn't get much better than this!
