We arrive in Kos At 4:30am, after a good few hours sleep on the ship - we don't feel too tired.
We hang out at the port till our next ferry to Bodrum at 9:30am which only takes 20 minutes and cost €30 each. Typical the ferry is late and leaves the port after 10am.
The customs at the port was so slow for people who aren't from within Europe. An American in front of us held up the line because she had been traveling in Europe for over 3 months - so they slapped her with an instant fine. We were stressing as the clock was ticking and we had a ferry to catch.
We arrived in Bodrum at 10:40am and thought we would wing the accommodation again so we walked around some streets away from the port and found a hotel called 'Turunc Pansiyon'. They quoted €55 a night but Ben got them down to €48 - so €24 each. The room is fine, simple with a TV, air-con and a good bathroom.
We went out for a bite to eat at 'Nazilli Restaurant' in the city center. We had a Turkish meal of chicken and cheese pide - which tasted amazing!!! We saw stalls with these donut type sweets so we brought them and had them with cinnamon - they were delicious and cheap too!
Bodrum is so busy today, tourists everywhere - much more busier than Greece. There are a lot of fake handbag and sunglasses stores around - all a rip off considering its fake.... we'll just wait till Asia for the fake goods :)
There are lots of 'eyes' all through the city, on the ground and on the walls - which really catch you eye.
Twice we heard the Muslim call to prayer. I took a pic of the tower where the music was coming from.
We walked 200 meters from our hotel to the bus station and booked an overnight bus from Bodrum to Cappadocia for tomorrow. It leaves at about 3pm and arrives the next day early in the morning. We aren't looking forward to it, but it was the cheapest option - only €30 (online it was €45) and a flight was over €120.
The currency the use here is Turkey Liria, but they still promote goods with the euro price as well. There are tones of money exchange places around which we needed as Turkey is last on our Europe tour.
Turkey is relatively cheap, not cheap - cheap, but better than Greece! We really like this place and it has a good buzz about the place.
