We are leaving Langkawi today. So I treat myself to a Starbucks coffee as i know they won't have it in Cambodia or Vietnam.
We pack our things and walk around the shops. For some reason Langkawi is a duty free shopping place. So I came across big 1 liters of Absolute vodka for $15 but it's too heavy to cart around in my bag.
We stop off for lunch at a great cafe called 'The English Tea Room And Coffee Bar' where we all enjoyed homemade chicken sandwiches for $3.
We visited the fruit and veg shop where we brought some mangos and the owners let us try a fruit called 'mangosteen' which was quite delicious. It was just a slightly different taste to a mango.
After we killed a few hours at our hotel Ben and I taxied to the airport to catch our flight at 7:50pm, Katie and James had booked a later plane. We found it was just the same price to fly 1hr back to KL, than to catch a 3hr ferry and a 6hr bus ride. The Langkawi airport is actually really modern.
We stay at a hotel close to the airport called 'New Nilai Hotel'. We booked this place as it said on the website free shuttle to airport. We turned up after an expensive taxi ride, to a place where low price really does mean low quality. To top it off the receptionist said they don't offer free shuttle rides to the airport, the blanket they gave us gave me hayfever and I saw a cockroach. Great.........
Katie and James arrived at the hotel much later than they should have, the taxi driver got them lost for over an hour and took them back to the airport so someone who knew where the hotel was could drive them there.
We called 'Hotels.com' who we booked our hotel through to complain about the false information they gave us on their website 'free transfers'. They didn't want a bar of what we had to say.
So a note to everyone: NEVER BOOK WITH HOTELS.COM.
